| Where to travel in Terrace Bay |
Community Information |
Terrace Bay, “The Gem of the North Shore”, is located on the north shore of Lake Superior. The town was established in 1947 when a pulp mill, now Kimberly-Clark Forest Products, was set up there. The actual town is named because of the series of terraces formed as the water level dropped in Lake Superior following the ice age. Slate Islands, a remote Provincial Park with no facilities, is noted for the largest herd of Woodland Caribou in Ontario.
